School Governors

Being a school governor can be a very rewarding experience.  You don’t need any special qualifications.  You simply need to have a bit of common sense and a keen interest in improving children’s education and some free time.

 Who Are Our School Governors?

Our school governors are committed to ensuring that pupils have the best possible environment to enjoy their time at our school. We focus on not only the educational values but also on the other school values which are just as important.  The full governing body meets around once a term and there are also three sub committees which meet to discuss issues specific to their area of interest.

What Do Governors Do?

Governors have a vital role to play within the school.  Working very closely with the Head Teacher and Deputy Head Teacher we :-

  • manage the school’s budget
  • promote high standards of pupil attainment
  • set targets for the pupils
  • ensure that a balanced curriculum is provided that follows the National Curriculum and that all subjects are covered under a creative curriculum
  • are responsible for the conduct of the school
  • appoint senior staff (including the head and deputy head teacher)
  • write and implement school policies
  • monitor the condition of the school buildings and grounds
  • ensure SEN needs are met

If you would like any further information then please do not hesitate to contact Claire Troote, the Chair of Governors via the office.
